'It piques their interest, gets them engaged'

Future doctors, nurses and therapists explored what it would be like to work in the medical field Wednesday, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Jaylon Walker hasn't been to high school yet, but he's already gotten a crash course in radiology. Walker and 150 other teens took part in UNMC's health professionals career day, exploring the many options in the medical field.

"Don't know what they want to be when they grow up, but now they do," Walker said. "Now that we have this opportunity to come here."

"It piques their interest, gets them engaged," Wayne Houston said.
